Artspace and Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust are very pleased to announce Louisa Afoa as the recipient of the 2015 Education Internship. This initiative recognises the importance and value of Artspace engaging with New Zealand’s growing community of young Pacific Islanders in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Louisa comes to the role with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from The Auckland University of Technology. Most recently she was gallery assistant at Papakura Art Gallery, gaining a lot of experience working with children. Exhibiting for a number of years Louisa has worked very closely with the Pacific community establishing connections and knowledge that make her perfect for the role.
Louisa will continue the work of previous interns Ioana Gordon-Smith and Ahilapalapa Rands to establish a connection between Artspace and the growing Pacific community fostering an education programme.
The internship has been made possible by a grant from Creative New Zealand’s Sector Development Incentive fund. This is the third of three, nine-month appointments.
