He was also one of six “Return to Hawaiikiâ€Â artist delegates to Samoa in 2012 to mark Samoa's 50 year independence celebrations and friendship treaty with NZ, where he created his sound design composition “ Return to Hawaiiki" premiered at the Vanya Taulealo Gallery, as well as facilitating local music production & songwriting workshops with the local students while based at the National University of Samoa.
Community Sound Art:
In 2014, Anonymouz was appointed and commissioned by Auckland City Council as music producer and composer to oversee the production of permanent soundscapes to play from sound cones embedded into the roof form of the brand new Glen Innes Music and Arts centre facility "Te Oro". His three part soundscape, "Kotuku Rerenga Tahiâ€Â as well as three local iwi soundscapes created under his supervision were unveiled at the centre’s opening in 2015, and was the first time a non-physical public art work was commissioned by a local authority in New Zealand.
He is also currently set to release at the end of September 2016 a Community Music project for the MÄngere - ÅŒtÄhuhu Community Board where he has facilitated over 100 local grassroots artists and students to collaborate on a combined music album.
Soundscapes & Sound Design:
Anonymouz has been commissioned to complete various projects for many organisations over the past decade including Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Theatre Company, Auckland Libraries, DB Breweries, Royal NZ Ballet and Vodafone. He has also composed soundscapes for many poetry videos as well as created sound design for various theatre works such as the Katie Wolf directed theatre production of 2080 by Aroha White, as well as Grace Taylor’s Mia Blake directed “My Own Darlingâ€.
He was also one of three Pacific artists commissioned in 2014 to create a new score/ sound design for Len Lye’s iconic “Tusalava†for the Agiagia Exhibition at The Mangere Arts Centre.
His productions and compositions are also heard every four minutes on Pacific radio in the over forty imaging and jingle stings that he has created for Pacific Media Networks NIU FM and Radio 531.
Music Education:
Anonymouz has been Music Director for Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s “Remix the Orchestra†Education Music programme since it inception in 2007; in 2013, it was recognised as one of the top three music programmes in the world, winning a prestigious UNESCO International Music Council Musical Rights award alongside two other programmes in Argentina and Italy.
He is also a regular mentor for the NZ Music Industry Commission and Tautai's Fresh Horizons education programmes, with many of his students winning and placing in national songwriting competitions over the years.
Music Director:
When not in production mode in the studio or recording on location somewhere, Anonymouz has been sought after to arrange and direct many major live stage show performances, including opening South Auckland’s first University (AUT South Campus), APRA Silver Scrolls, Dr Ben Carson Fundraiser, ILT Stadium Invercargill Community Showcase (with over a hundred musicians and artists performing simultaneously) and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Remix Auckland Town Hall show featuring NZ Urban artists and students accompanied by a live band and full orchestra.
Music Industry:
The underlying foundation of Anonymouz’s avant garde creative works in recent years is modern urban production methods and sampling techniques of Hip Hop music, a genre he is still very much passionate about to this day.Â
He has produced for many local urban artists over the years, both commercial and underground, including artists such as Ermehn, DJCXL, Adeaze, TJ Taotua and others.
He was also part of music collective “The Hypnotics†who were finalists for Best Pacific Group at the Pacific Music Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was also the producer for traditional Samoan Church albums nominated as finalists in 2007 (Mangere Samoan Methodist) and 2009 (Otara Samoan Methodist).
In 2008, he was named recipient of the Philip Fuemana Award for Most Promising Artist at the Pacific Music Awards, and in 2016 he was the recipient of the Emerging Artist Award at the Creative New Zealand Arts Pasifika awards.
