WHAT?
First Fridays (FF) is a niu initiative that will bring the Oceanic arts community together regularly on the First Friday of every month from March to November 2019.
We will hear from Pacific artists who have recently travelled abroad and or we will hear about projects happening locally. This will happen in the form of two short creative presentations (15-20 minutes) from two different speakers.
After the talks, the night will end with a performance element (10-15 minutes); this could be poetry, music, dance, moving image, performance art and so on.
This is a FREE event series. Refreshments will be provided.
WHY?
Many artists who travel and exhibit or showcase internationally have expressed that there is nowhere to present on their experiences and findings once they return home.
In addition, many members of our community have expressed the need for a regular focused event – to be able to catch up, connect, and stay updated with what’s happening across the sector.
Most importantly, we want to celebrate the incredible artists, performers, and thinkers of Tautai and our wider community!
Where?
First Fridays has the potential to activate around the country and overseas. For 2019 we will primarily present at arts venues in Auckland and we will look to host a minimum of two First Fridays outside of Auckland.
The first FF will take place at Tautai on March 1 2019.
How?
If you would like to be a featured speaker and or performer for an FF event in 2019 or to co-host as a venue or organisation, please email tautai@archive.tautai.org with a summary of your ideas.
All featured artists will be paid for their time and featured in our communications.
