Jo and John Gow receive The Arts Foundation Award for Patronage

Tautai congratulates philanthropists Jo and John Gow who were last night recognised for their contribution to the arts with the Award for Patronage at the New Zealand Arts Awards.

The Arts Foundation Awards celebrate arts philanthropy in New Zealand including a $20,000 Award for Patronage which is then gifted back to the arts.

Jo and John matched that amount and chose to gift Tautai, The Big Idea, Q Theatre and Sculpture On The Gulf each $10,000.

Tautai will use the gift specifically to establishing and collecting archives from Pacific artists.

This valuable resource will be an important addition to the Tautai archive which holds the records of over 30 years of Tautai and contemporary pacific art in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Jo and John Gow have long been long term supporters and friends with Tautai’s founder, Fatu Feu’u and they were among the founding members of the Tautai patrons group, Fetu Ta’i.

Tautai is grateful to Jo and John Gow not only for this award but for their ongoing involvement with Tautai and for their support they give to our artist community.
