Watch the amazing, bright yellow, banana inscribed neon light sculptures, Don’t Dream It’s Over, blaze into light on the K’ Road overbridge this First Thursday, 6 July 2017.
The three imposing 6 metre high lightpoles will be officially launched at 6pm.
The ceremony will start with a karakia, followed by a performance before the lights are turned on.
Artist Janet Lilo, who titled the sculpture Don’t Dream It’s Over, was inspired by K’ Road’s cultural heritage, creative history and the Crowded House song of the same title.
The poles were constructed by ProSign from steel frames and vinyl acrylic panel sheets with integrated neon lighting.
KBA precinct manager Michael Richardson says the sculptures are a true reflection of K’ Road, its community, heritage and culture.  “K’ Road is going through an exciting time of change, where old meets new and the eclectic combination of creativity and business are coming together.â€
This project was supported by KBA and funded by Auckland Council.
